About the Program: “This special program was created especially for students whose high GPA's indicate probable academic success in graduate school despite disproportionate LSAT scores. The Summer Starter Program is not a summer qualifier program. Once admission to the Summer Starter Program is granted (based on a fully completed application, LSDAS Report, and an on-campus interview), the student is a member of the entering class. Students admitted to the program have been offered admission to the entering class contingent upon the completion of the summer program or they will forfeit their offer of admission.

The curriculum for students admitted to this program includes one course in Criminal Law and the other a 5-hour version of either Property, Torts, Procedure or Contracts. Students meet with tutors at least three times weekly and are tested every week in each course. Class preparation, test preparation, and study skills will be provided in individual weekly sessions with the Director of Academic Support Services. Test results will also be reviewed and analyzed, furthermore, a heavy emphasis will be placed on providing intensive writing experience with frequent feedback. The fall course schedule for the starters will include classes that were not taken in the summer as well as Writing and Advocacy.”

Selection Criteria: “Potential candidates will be selected from the applicant pool. No separate application is necessary.

If selected as a potential candidate for the program, the individual will be contacted for an interview. Interviewing is merely the third step in the process and is not an offer of admission to the entering class.”

Application Fee: $40.00. May apply online for free.

Application Deadline: “Summer Starter Program Interviews will begin in January 2005 for May 2005 Summer Starters. Applications will be accepted prior to January and until the 25 Summer Starter seats are filled.”
