Special Admissions Procedures

About the Program: “We believe that extra care is required to fairly evaluate applicants for whom grades or LSAT scores may not be predictive. These applicants include individuals whose first language is other than English, members of racial or cultural minorities who have been educationally disadvantaged, and those with various disabilities.

If you wish to be evaluated under the special admissions procedures, please explain why, when you submit your application.”

Selection Criteria: “Application Guidelines. To achieve our goals the Admissions Committee follows professional guidelines when reviewing applications. At a minimum you must provide information demonstrating you have the requisite intellectual skills to be successful in law school. While the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score and undergraduate grade point average (GPA) are important considerations for admission, they are not the sole factors. We also look for maturity, initiative, public service, and a fit with our educational philosophy and curricular strengths. If you have LSAT scores and/or a GPA below our average, you must provide us with information to demonstrate that you have the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to successfully complete law school. You will also need to give us clear evidence of your abilities in your application -- your essay, detailed descriptions of challenging work, and specific letters of recommendation.

Well-prepared applications make a person's qualifications stand out. We value maturity, initiative, and risk-taking. Among otherwise qualified applicants, we look for demanding experiences that you can persuasively show have significantly strengthened and sharpened your abilities for self-understanding, learning, problem solving, and social contribution. The Admissions Committee looks at each applicant as a whole person and spends a great deal of time reviewing every application, especially the essay portion.” Application Fee: $55.00.

Application Deadline: Rolling admissions. Applications are accepted between October 1 and April 1.
